“Field of Dreams Baseball”

Connecting those who are called to serve with those who can’t hear the call.

Our Purpose: To meet the needs of hearing-impaired communities through volunteer service.

Our Mission: To improve the quality of life today for those at risk or impacted by hearing loss, through education and support.

Sertoma Inc. is an organization of service clubs founded on April 11, 1912. The name is an acronym for Service to Mankind. Sertoma has clubs all over the United States and in Canada. Sertoma's primary focus is based upon assisting the more than 50 million people with hearing health issues, and educating the public on the issues surrounding hearing health. In order to achieve these goals, Sertoma has undertaken a multi-faceted approach by launching programs that address both the treatment and prevention aspects of hearing health.

Sertoma has approximately 500 clubs throughout the U.S. and Canada with over 13,000 members combined. Clubs also sponsor community projects to assist youth, and to benefit a variety of other local community needs as identified by individual clubs.

"The goal of Sertoma's Field of Dreams Baseball Camp is to reach out to hearing-impaired athletes who previously have been denied or have been limited in playing opportunities. Former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop, Ozzie Smith, started the program in 1991 to support a Sertoma neighbor with a deaf child. Since then, a number of camps have been developed in which parents, families, communities and our young athletes have greatly benefited from and regained their enthusiasm and excitement for the game again."
"The annual Field of Dreams Baseball Camp, for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (age 7-16) has been ongoing since it's inauguration in 1998. The camp is a full two-day, open enrollment baseball camp for any, and all deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes (boys and girls 7-16 years of age) and has been held at various venues throughout the state, including Littleton High School, Rangeview High School, Metropolitan State University, the Regency Athletic Complex Baseball Field at MSU-Denver, and now at All Star Park - Keli McGregor Field, Lakewood, CO. Additional specific information regarding this year's camp is located on this website, along with the registration forms and instructions."
